We have worked hard to make this website as easy as possible to navigate. There are three distinct areas of navigation: site-wide navigation tools, main navigation sections and section navigation. (See figure A)
Figure A: The three navigation areas on this website
This section at the top of the website comprises of:
These links are available on every page on this website at all times and will soon be standard to all of Worthing Borough Council's websites by late 2007.
This section contains the main sections of this website that are unique to this website. These are broad categories that may encompass further information within it that is revealed in the section navigation.
To use this, think what questions you are asking or what you would like to know, and select the link that is related the closest to your query or your reason for visiting us. For example to find out about Junior Activities, you are more likely to find this in the Activities section than Prices and Membership Section. If you still cannot find what you are looking for, use our to show you everything that we have online.
The main sections navigation is available on every page on the website at the top below the site wide navigation.
The section navigation is located on the left hand side of the website alongside the content itself.
If you have selected the a section such as Activities, you will see when the page has loaded the section navigator on the lefthand side. There are a series of links with the topmost being the website home page and the further down being progressively deeper in the website itself until you reach the section you are currently in (highlighted in bold). (See figure B)
[Figure B Due Soon]
Indented from the current section is the further pages you can access. In the case of the Activities page, you will see further pages within it for: Exercise Classes, Fit 4 Worthing, Junior Activities and Lessons and Coaching. (See figure C)
[Figure C Due Soon]The section navigation is unique to the section you are viewing.
Sometimes you can struggle to read and see what a website is saying because the type is too small. Don't struggle unnecessarily as we have gone one better.
Not only can you enlarge the text to any size (or make it smaller) but the actual website itself enlarges or shrinks too. This means the visual presentation of the website isn't lost because you have chosen to view the website in a way that suits you. See Figure D for this in action in Firefox.
Figure D: Page Zooming in Firefox. Page shrinks/enlarges based on your chosen text size.
We have tested this functionality in all of the mainstream web browsers include:
To change the size of text depends on the web browser you use. Here are the instructions for the most popular web browsers:
You can also use the zoom control located at the bottom right hand side of the Internet Explorer window.
Using the numeric keypad with ‘Number Lock' on, use:
You can also use Ctrl + F2 to access the Apple menus with your keyboard, and use the cursor keys to move around the menu structure, and select your chosen option by pressing return .
We live in an electronic world but we all sometimes want a hard copy of what we have read. That's why this website allows you to print a page in beautiful quality without needing to fiddle with selecting text or finding the ‘printer friendly' option. Just click print and the page will be printed in full without all the unnecessary information you don't need.
Try it now and be relieved at the stress free way to paper.
We all read some letters such as HTML and wonder what they might mean, or possibly what an abbreviation means. To help you make sense of these, look out for text with a dotted underline. Move your mouse over one of these and you will see in most web browsers a little ‘tip' pop up explaining the definition for you. Some web browsers make this even more obvious as the mouse pointer changes to a ‘ ? '.
We have adhered to UK Government guidelines for access keys. We have not implemented any others due to conflicts with your computer's specific keyboard shortcuts.
